Pokemon Trio Masters Ranked

We’re still in the middle of the Christmas holidays, but we’re still going. For my last ranked post of the year (and for the time being), I wanted to do something a bit special. So here we are – the ranked list, from lowest to highest, of the Legendary Trio Masters!

6. Regigigas

I mean technically it’s not a trio master anymore, but we’ll give it a pass.

Regigigas is so low here because of its Slow Start Ability. It would have been higher than the next entry if it wasn’t for that, but unfortunately what makes it such an intimidating threat otherwise is marred by its ability to actually get its act together.

5. Landorus

I generally don’t like the Forces of Nature anyway, but Landorus has to be here because of its Therian Forme, as well as its uses in the competitve scene.

4. Ho-Oh

I quite like Ho-Oh, but not as much as the others. It serves as the Trio Master to the Legendary Beasts, which makes sense considering Ho-Oh’s hand in creating Raikou, Entei and Suicune in the anime. It’s cringeworthy hearing people pronounce it ‘Ho-Ho’ though.

3. Arceus

Arceus is literally a god, and also has the tough job of serving as the Trio Master to two trios in Sinnoh – the Creation Trio (Dialga, Palkia and Giratina) as well as the Lake Guardians (Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie). I love the design of Arceus, and the fact that its signature move is called Judgment. Like that’s just badass.

2. Lugia

I didn’t think the Legendary Birds needed a Trio Master, but we got Lugia, and I’m glad we did. I still don’t like that it’s not part-Water-type, but I can ignore that. Lugia is very majestic, and frustrated me in the first year of raiding in Pokemon GO – the first time around people refused to raid for Lugia, and instead did a…Tyranitar. Yeah. Getting Lugia the second time around was beautiful in itself.

1. Rayquaza

Rayquaza is the pinnacle of Trio Masters. It doesn’t need anyone else being its master, so it just went ‘to hell with it, I’ll be the Trio Master’ and it works so well for it. After all, its Air Lock Ability eliminates the effects of Groudon and Kyogre’s Drought and Drizzle respectively. Don’t get me started on when Rayquaza Mega Evolves, though, that shit’s broken as hell!
