Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Executions Ranked

Hey guys! I’m back with another despair-inducing post about the Danganronpa executions – this time, focusing on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

Like the last one, I’ll be going from least favourite to favourite, and just giving an insight as to why that is. And of course, because we’re talking about character deaths, there is a spoiler alert here!

Bye-Bye Ouchies!

Executed: Mikan Tsumiki

This one kinda fell flat to me. I like that Mikan doesn’t like oversized things, and this is a huge (no pun intended) part of the execution, but it doesn’t really…go anywhere (except space). But there’s no closure to it, but at least she gets a good fisting.

Sorry, I had to make this execution more interesting.

Forced Shutdown

Executed: AI Junko Enoshima

To be honest, I can’t really rank this execution much higher, just because it’s not an execution per se, it’s the shutdown of the Neo World Program more than anything. But an execution is an execution, and at least it’s much more aesthetically pleasing than the last one.

Deep Fried Teruteru

Executed: Teruteru Hanamura

This entertained me on so many levels, because the Ultimate Cook gets a good deep fry, and it’s pretty crazy that they went on location for this execution, and literally threw Teruteru into a volcano and let him cook, like that’s just strange.

Gundham Tanaka Stampede!

Executed: Gundham Tanaka

This execution hit me in the feels. While we don’t see much of Gundham’s talent in the series (barring him leaving the Devas behind, away from danger), Gundham does get to delve into his chuunibyou fantasies and go all Fullmetal Alchemist on us before he gets penetrated by one of the animals’ horns. Then instead of going to hell like he kept professing, the animal angels took him to heaven. Poor hamsters.

One Woman Army

Executed: Peko Pekoyama

I love the visualisation of this execution, and the feeling is amplified more with Fuyuhiko’s interference in the execution, and then Peko ends up accidentally injuring him, which is probably the most despair-inducing thing that could happen, before she ends up dying anyway.

Please Insert Coin

Executed: Chiaki Nanami & Monomi

As a gamer, this hits the right spot. I enjoy the call-backs to retro games, such as Tetris and Space Invaders. While the only qualm I have with it is that the Tetris block used to finish the execution is only three blocks rather than four, I can live with that. Unlike Chiaki. I suppose that is despair in itself. Interesting…
