Making Galar Gyms – Electric

Hey guys! Today, I’m going to focus on the Electric type, and this team won’t surprise you, I’m sure. But here they are!

Luxray

I have coverage of moves on Luxray here, and now I kinda wish that Luxray got Strong Jaw as its Ability. Ice Fang would help take care of the Ground-type Pokemon that are inevitable in this kind of battle.

Ability: Intimidate

Item: Sitrus Berry

Moves: Psychic Fangs, Bite, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang

Galvantula

I decided to double in on the accuracy for Galvantula, with Compound Eyes and a Wide Lens, at least to spam Thunder over and over. Leech Life, while a Physical move, is there to help recover health back while dealing extra STAB damage, at least. I’m also using a new Isle of Armor move. Are you proud, momma?

Ability: Compund Eyes

Item: Wide Lens

Moves: Leech Life, Energy Ball, Skitter Smack, Thunder

Lanturn

Icy Wind is the move of choice for Lanturn, to counter the Ground- and Grass-types. I decided on Rain Dance to set up rain, before Volt Switching into a Pokemon later on in this list that would be able to make use of the guaranteed Thunder hit.

Ability: Volt Absorb

Item: Leftovers

Moves: Aqua Ring, Volt Switch, Rain Dance, Icy Wind

Magnezone

Magnet Rise is the basis for Magnezone’s strategy, as it removes the 4x weakness to Ground. Flash Cannon and Discharge are there for STAB moves, while Substitute is there to troll, basically.

Ability: Sturdy

Item: King’s Rock

Moves: Magnet Rise, Flash Cannon, Discharge, Substitute

Jolteon

Jolteon would be able to make use of the earlier set-up rain in order to ensure that Thunder hit every time. I will admit it was hard to give Jolteon some good moves, considering most of its movepool consists of Physical attacks while it is clearly more of a Special Attacker in terms of its stats.

Ability: Volt Absorb

Item: Rocky Helmet

Moves: Thunder, Electro Ball, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt

Toxtricity

Of course, the Gigantamax of choice is Toxtricity! I think this comes as a no-brainer, as my all-time favourite Pokemon. Of course, as with all Gym Leaders, Toxtricity will be Gigantamaxed at the first opportunity, and will encompass an array of moves that will make use of its Throat Spray.

Ability: Punk Rock

Item: Throat Spray

Moves: Overdrive, Sludge Wave, Boomburst, Hyper Voice

King’s Rock on Magnezone is interesting. It’s more known for spreading status, so getting some flinches would catch people off guard.
