Summer Chaos Day Round-Up

I’ve been wanting to wait until after Suicune Chaos Day to make this round-up, so we have the full three days’ worth of content, and I didn’t want to spread it out over 3 posts.

This year, we were able to complete research tasks in order to obtain (see my post on that here: https://thatlittlelola.wordpress.com/2019/06/11/professor-willows-global-challenge/). We managed to smash the targets (although I think Instinct needed help for the first part in Chicago (they were lagging behind a little), and Yokohama turned out to need 25 million tasks each.

The biggest rewards were the Legendary Beasts coming back to raids, with their shinies released, too.

Raikou – 29th June, 3pm until 6pm

The time didn’t matter so much because it was a Saturday evening. I was totally ready for this, Raikou is my favourite of the Legendary Beasts. Our route was as follows:

Harry’s Bar  –>  Ashby Community Centre  –>  Ashby War Memorial  –>  RAOB Club  –>  Ashby Post Office  –>  Jubilee Park  –>  Lincoln Imp  –>  Old Shop Scales  –>  Nutshell  –> Central Park Fountain  –>  Anchor at Council Buildings  –>  Pods  –>  AppFrod Works  –>  Scunthorpe Main Post Office  –>  Scunthorpe Train Station  –>  20-21 Visual Arts Centre  –>  Church Square House  –>  Scunthorpe Central Library  –>  Ironstone Centre  –>  Holy Souls Church  –>  Co-Operative Mutual Society

The day was very successful for most people. I was not one of them, I was one of two that raided the entire time without a shiny. However, others were getting at least three apiece. I think it’s just rotten luck at the time, but I was able to have a spare reserved for trade.

The day was not lost, however, as on the way to Ashby Post Office, I hatched my first shiny Onix. I suppose that was to be my shiny for the day…

Entei – 14th July – 4pm until 7pm

This was a worse scenario than at Raikou day. This was only because of the timing of the event. As it was a Sunday evening, not as many people stayed out to raid as the previous event. However, we still managed to do 21 raids just as last time. We did deviate from the route due to a few diversions from others, but the route was as follows:

Harry’s Bar  –>  Ashby Community Centre  –>  Ashby War Memorial  –>  RAOB Club  –>  Ashby Post Office  –>  Jubilee Park  –>  Lincoln Imp  –>  Old Shop Scales  –>  Nutshell  –> Central Park Fountain  –>   Pods  –>  AppFrod Works  –>  Ironstone Centre  –>  Church Square House –>  20-21 Visual Arts Centre  –>  Scunthorpe Central Library  –>  Scunthorpe Train Station  –>  Glanford Park  –>  Scotter Road Post Office  –>  Scunthorpe Congregational Church  –>  Atkinson’s Warren

This way, I was able to raid on three Gyms that I have never even touched, due to them being too out of the way to interact with (they’re on the other side of town). I got one shiny from these 21 raids, at Ashby Community Centre. That shiny has since gone on to be a Lucky Trade for another Entei. I also got my friend’s spare Raikou in exchange for a spare Gorebyss (so she could trade her original on to her husband).

Suicune – 17th August – 4pm until 7pm

The late evening problem persists, but it’s on a Saturday, which isn’t a problem! However, there was a lot of people that decided to do a different route instead, so we had a minimal amount to start with compared to the last two raids. However, we still managed to do 21 raids.

Harry’s Bar  –>  Ashby Community Centre  –>  Ashby War Memorial  –>  RAOB Club  –>  Ashby Post Office  –>  Jubilee Park  –>  Lincoln Imp  –>  Old Shop Scales  –>  Heslam Park  –> Pods  –>  Main Post Office  –>  Scunthorpe Train Station  –>  20-21 Visual Arts Centre  –>  Church Square House –>  Scunthorpe Central Library  –>  Ironstone Centre –>  Holy Souls Church  –>  Co-Operative Mutual Society  –>  Guru Nanak Sikh Temple  –>  Sheffield Park BMX Track  –>  Fountain Central Park

I went quite a while without a shiny, but my first finally came at the Central Library, followed by a second at Sheffield Park. But it was a lot of fun for all involved (apart from the one who finally got his shinies within the last four raids.

Overall I found the chaos days to be successful in terms of enjoyment, regardless of shiny luck. Ironically I got the most shinies out of the day that I wasn’t thoroughly excited over, just neutral, and then I got no shinies out of the day that I really wanted one from. However, in the end, I did get the shinies for each of the Beasts, with a spare Suicune to give to Connor.

Also, watch out for my upcoming opinions of the upcoming Ultra Bonus unlocks when we find out even more information.

My wife had two of her first three encounters on Suicune Day be shiny. It was kind of silly. I was also sad that they didn’t bring back Hidden Power on Suicune for this event. It was part of the appeal to doing that raid for me.

I was sad they didn’t bring out a Water-type fast move for Suicune, but I was just looking to do a lot of raids so I didn’t mind.
